SHAYNE'S SHOW
Weekdays 3-6pm
Shayne Hollinger
Shayne Hollinger got his first taste of big-time entertainment while catching the exciting show of Jimmy the headless dancing chicken at a roadside carnival in Maypearl. After trading three packs of Lucky Strikes to Harold the hairless pig-faced boy, Shayne joined the carnival acting as the assistant manager to Jimmy and learned some very important life lessons that paved his way toward greatness. According the Shayne, "the most important thing I learned from Jimmy (who is now in the Chicken Hall Of Fame) was that this is nothing more arrogant in this world than a headless chicken, I vowed right then to never become that."
After Shayne left Jimmy's camp, the next obvious step was to be a roadie for Leon Russell. It was Shayne who asked Leon to turn around on his album cover.... simply ahead of it's time.
After a failed road trip with Leon to Idaho, which will remain secret, (because what happens in Idaho...well, is simply boring) Shayne decided to give radio a try. I mean, they sit, they talk, they eat and drink. Seems fairly simple right? Well, it is. So after beating the crap out of the morning show guy in Idaho, Shayne barricaded himself into the studio and his illustrious radio career began.
Shayne has now been involved in radio for more than a decade and closely approaching two decades of being extremely lazy, except for the occasional trip from the console to the CD rack.
From time to time Shayne will get the itch to run off with a carnival that might roll through town, but the call of music, warm Natural Light and free Milky Way bars will lure him back into radio.
